SINCE 2011

Tasty’s was an idea several decades in the making. Owner’s Chad and Katy Dougherty opened Tasty’s in December of 2011 after realizing that our small community of Fernandina Beach was in need of a family friendly, budget friendly dining spot that focused its efforts on quality food, service and atmosphere. After some careful consideration and a little inspiration from the past…Tasty’s was born!

Owner Chad Dougherty’s grandmother, Jean Cover, successfully ran one of Fernandina’s first quintessential burger joints back in the early 1960’s. The Freezette was the local hang out for teens and adults alike where servers even donned roller skates and served fresh burgers and fries curbside.

Over the course of many years hearing stories about “the good ol’ days” of The Freezette from not only Granny Jean herself, but from others who so fondly recalled their own memories of that special place, they knew that they wanted to recapture some of what The Freezette brought to this community so many years ago.

Chad and Katy, along with head chef Justin Southwell, immediately began conceptualizing the menu that would focus its attention on the freshest ingredients along with age old cooking techniques that would eventually lead to the creation of the Tasty’s Burger!

A Tasty’s Burger is a proprietary blend of beef that never sees a freezer, the fries are fresh everyday and the shakes are hand scooped to order! Check out the full menu for our wide range of menu options.

After several years to perfect our processes and recipes, Tasty’s grew from its original FERNANDINA BEACH location to a second location in YULEE, FL (May 2016). Recently, Tasty’s brought Chad’s brother, Jason, a retired Marine & Army officer, into the family mix to manage operations and expanded to a third location in the WILDLIGHT community in Yulee, FL (September 2019) and a fourth location in KINGSLAND, GA (November 2019).

No matter how much we may continue to grow, one thing that the Dougherty’s and Chef Justin know for certain: we must never compromise on quality and consistency. Good food served by good people.
